It is our intention in 2010 to invite volunteers to stay at our place, through the International Wwoofing Organization, among others. This would take place from the months of May to October, and volunteers can stay from a few days to a few weeks, and even for longer stays of months.
In return for 5 to 5 1/2 hours of volunteering per day, 5 days per week, we are giving accommodation and 3 meals per day, with instruction, if so desired, into the yogic tradition.
Simple vegetarian and vegan meals will be served, using our own garden vegetables when possible. Accommodations, while in the spring will be in teepees, wall tents and/ or (homemade) yurts, later as more of the cabins are built there will be proper sleeping quarters. Meditation and yoga classes will be held daily in the morning, and perhaps in the evening.
Here is a brief and rough outline of the dates and the projects for this year:
Everyone is welcome to come. The work will generally lean towards being quite laborious, but in the case of those who cannot do heavy work, we will always be able to find other tasks. Work will be from cooking (for those who enjoy to cook), gardening, building, digging, pathway creation, landscaping, etc… There are only a limited number of volunteering opportunities available this year, so it is advised that you book your space soon.
In order to make it out to our place, it is very important that you contact us at least two weeks in advance, by email. Our phone number is only a voice mail, and we check this as often usually as email. We go into town (Terrace) only once per week, because of the distance. Generally these trips are on Saturdays or on Mondays. It is best that you arrive on a Saturday that way we do not need to make an extra trip into town, which with today’s gas prices becomes an expensive journey (a 1.5 hour drive).
Otherwise, if you are coming by car/truck, then you can drive up whenever you wish and we will be glad to take you in when you arrive. Please contact us for directions. |
